AMINO ACID PROFILE
withinUs TruMarine™ Collagen is a hydrolyzed form of collagen, prepared by breaking down gelatin into smaller particle sizes using a natural enzymatic process. This proprietary process produces a clean, natural form of collagen with a low molecular weight in the optimal range of 3,000-5,000 Da. TruMarine™ Collagen will not form a gel and is highly dissolvable in cold water, even at relatively high concentrations.
Collagen proteins contain 18 different amino acids, 7 of which are essential for human life. TruMarine™ Collagen contains hydroxyproline, glycine and proline, which can be detected in the blood after ingestion, and function to stimulate the cells in the skin, joints and bones.
In particular, glycine represents about one third of the total amino acids in collagen peptides. This amino acid is known to play various roles, including functioning as a neurotransmitter, and is a precursor for the synthesis of heme and glutathione, as well as proteins in the body.

Effects On Joint Health
Clinical Trials + Results
Ingestion of collagen peptides improves joint mobility and comfort
24-week prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind test study on the use of marine collagen hydrolysate as a dietary supplement. Athletes with activity-related joint pain were administered collagen peptide (10 g per day) or placebo.
Joint pain at rest and while walking was considerably improved.
Trumarine™ Collagen is superior to casein in its potential to enhance bone mineral density during protein undernutrition
When given food containing 10% casein, bone mineral density was found to be significantly lower compared to those given food containing 14%. Figure 1 shows bone mineral density raised for 10 weeks with food containing 6% casein, 10% casein or 6% casein + 4% collagen. The horizontal axis shows the position in the femur, while the vertical axis indicates the bone mineral density at that position. Bone mineral density in those given food containing 6% casein + 4% collagen was significantly higher when compared to those given 10% casein.
Effects On the Skin
Daily intake of TruMarine™ Collagen peptide helps to reduce wrinkles
In a double-blind clinical trial 88 women aged 35-65 years were given 5 g of TruMarine™ fish collagen or dextrin (placebo) once daily for 8 weeks, with 43 and 45 subjects included in each group. Before treatment and at 4 and 8 weeks of treatment, digital images of the face skin were analyzed by VISIA® Complexion Analysis (Canfield, USA) with multiple end points for facial skin parameters related to cutaneous aging. A daily diary and a subjective self-assessment questionnaire of facial skin condition were asked at 0, 4 and 8 weeks at the conclusion of the study. This test was performed by SOUKEN after approval of Ethical Review.
The number of wrinkles decreased by 8% after ingesting of marine collagen peptide for 8 weeks, corresponding to a 4-year-younger appearance.
Decreases age spots, improves overall look of facial skin, & creates a brighter appearance
In the placebo group, the number of age spots tended to increase (+3%). In contrast, in the collagen group, the number of age spots (brown and red skin lesions inclusive of hyperpigmentation, melasma, acne spots, vascular lesions and lentigines) had significantly decreased at 4 weeks as compared to before treatment (0 weeks).
Reduces pore size by 7%
In the collagen group, the number of pores had significantly decreased at 8 weeks compared with 0 weeks. In contrast, no significant change was detected in the placebo group.
Improves skin texture by 10%
The VISIA Texture Analysis measures skin color and smoothness by identifying gradation in color from surrounding skin tone, as well as peaks and valleys on the skin surface. A variation in skin surface texture results in uneven appearance.
In the collagen group, the number of texture variations had significantly decreased at 4 weeks and 8 weeks compared with 0 weeks.
Daily ingestion of TruMarine™ Collagen peptide significantly improves the overall look of facial skin, resulting in a more even appearance (-10%) at both 4 and 8 weeks.
70-80% of women are able to observe the effects of collagen peptide ingestion on the skin
Placebo-controlled, double-blind study on healthy women aged 40-54, ingesting either a placebo drink (50 ml) or a drink containing 5 g or 10 g of collagen peptide daily after dinner for 7 weeks (1).
At 3 weeks, only 10% of the placebo group answered “better,” while this value was 41% in the 5 g per day group and 62% in the 10 g per day group.
Improves skin function + increases water absorption
In a double blind test young female volunteers consumed a drink containing 10 g of collagen or placebo every day for 2 months.
Figure 2 shows the increase in water absorbing capacity of the stratum corneum of the skin during the test period. The increase in water absorbing capacity of the collagen-ingesting group (80.2μS) was larger than that of the placebo group (10.8μS) at 1 month, and the difference became larger between the collagen group (203.5μS) and the placebo group (113.7μS) when the test period was extended to 2 months. The increase in the placebo group may be explained by the fact that both the placebo drink and the collagen drink contained vitamin C, which may have improved skin function.
