When it comes to the health and wellness of our loyal canine companions, we want to provide them the best we can offer.

We often get asked, “Is TruMarine Collagen safe for my dog?”  The answer is 100% - YES!

The photo below is of our beloved, Tag (Tag-along).  Tag was part of the team at the withinUs office.  In 2013, Tag (who was then, 5 years old) was in a horrible accident.  After the accident, Tag lost some teeth from the impact of the fall, collapsed lung and required a metal rod in his right front leg.  The surgeons said he would have arthritis due to the fall and trauma on his joints and spine.

This is when we started to add TruMarine Collagen into his daily dinner.

The surgeons, specialist at the vet hospital were amazed he not only survived, but thrived after that traumatic fall and when he turned 13, did not have any arthritis.

Collagen is the main structural protein in humans, and this is no different for our beloved dogs.

As dogs begin to age, much like humans, they can start to develop pain in their bones and joints. In a study published by The Journal of Veterinary Science, introducing a collagen supplement early on as a preventative measure was shown to potentially slow the effects of bone and joint pain later on in life (1).

Dogs may not be concerned about fine lines, wrinkles and skin hydration, but other benefits of collagen for dogs include a healthier coat and improved digestion. The amino acids in collagen help to heal the intestinal lining by assisting the formation of connective tissue.

withinUs™ TruMarine® Collagen is sourced from the scales of wild-caught, sustainably-sourced fish (we do not include any fish skin, which contain impurities). withinUs™ TruMarine® Collagen is proven to have superior absorption rate (you need to take less per servings versus lower quality sources, such as fish skin, bovine or porcine. In addition, since withinUs™ TruMarine® Collagen is extracted from fish scales, it is free of any risk of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), foot-and-mouth disease or bird virus.

withinUs TruMarine Collagen is Ultra-Pure free from any dairy, lactose, soy, wheat, gluten and allergens. It also contains no artificial colours, flavours, additives or preservatives. TruMarine® Collagen is nonGMO project verified (very important), is stringently tested for impurities and metals, including lead and mercury. It is approved by Health Canada and the World Health Organization (WHO) and has GRAS status from the FDA .

Clinically proven, withinUs™ TruMarine® Collagen peptides has a 98% absorption rate. Peptides derived from fish scale marine collagen help with the formation of collagen by stimulating fibroblast growth and encouraging the production of extra cellular matrix components.

How much withinUs™ TruMarine® Collagen should I give my dog?

Due to its superior, premium quality, a full serving (5g) of withinUs™ TruMarine® Collagen is not required for all dogs. We recommend to start gradually - half in the morning, half at dinner.  See the chart below for reference:

What is the best way to give TruMarine® Collagen to my dog?

We suggest mixing withinUs™ TruMarine® Collagen into your dog’s meal. Mix the suggested amount into raw, cooked, dry kibble or wet food. It is virtually tasteless and odourless making it easy to incorporate into their daily routine.

Henry the Bulldog and withinUs™ TruMarine® Collagen

"This past summer I had reached out to you on your Instagram page after having bought the TruMarine collagen for myself and had enquired about the serving amount for a dog of his size.  We had been adding it his meals occasionally to see how he would do on it.  He has a lot of food sensitivity so we wanted to be sure he could tolerate it before adding it every day.  After the second injury, we added it to both meals each day in hopes it would help.
And so now it was time to head back to the vet. This visit Henry was able to walk into her office on his own and the vet was very surprised and happy to see him so improved.  We had followed her instructions to keep him on bed rest with little to no exercise and he was taking all the prescribed meds.  We told her that we had added the Tru Marine collagen as well.  After an exam of both knees, she told us that if we continue with supplements,  moderate exercise, lots of rest and the collagen that we could avoid surgery all together.  Such amazing news!!!
We firmly believe that the collagen has made a huge difference and so does our vet.  The fact that he couldn't put any weight on either leg and was now able to walk into her office was truly amazing."
